I am the Sr. Manager of Product Development and Trend in Apparel for Walmart.com. What kind of job is that you say? Well it’s the best job ever! What I love most about my job is that it’s a bunch of different jobs all rolled into one. I spend about a third of my time working with my team of buyers to help detect what opportunities we have for product development above and beyond the stores. One of my pride and joys is the Maternity assortment, which currently is 100% walmart.com exclusive. Check it out! The rest of my time is spent researching macro industry and color trends along with online shopping trends or technologies and ways customers are shopping. Anyway, pretty cool! I’ve been working in trend for the last 4 years, 2 at Walmart.com, after almost 15 years of buying/merchandising for various companies including Old Navy and Anthropologie. I love all things pop culture and people watching so this is a great fit for me. Working at Walmart.com these last few years has been an awesome experience for me: the people, the environment and “saving people money so they can live better”, what could be better?
