Welcome to “Check Out.”

Ever been to the Consumer Electronics Show? A clean technology forum? Ever gotten to preview the newest games, gadgets and phones before they were out?

We have, and it was for work.

This is a blog, simply, about a team of experts at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club who have really cool jobs working with gadgets, games, sustainability and more. Even better, these jobs are centered around helping people save money and live better.

We’re excited.

Finally, in terms of blogging, we like the advice Robert Scoble gave back in 2003 when he wrote his version of a “Corporate Weblog Manifesto.”

Check it out. There’s lots to come.

Thanks for visiting.

****UPDATE 12/5****

We're excited to finally go live and looking forward to hear what you have to say! A quick primer below.

CHECK OUT COMMENT POLICY

We know you’ve got plenty to say. On this blog, we encourage dialogue about the products discussed by the writers. We welcome your thoughts and opinions on any and all of those topics.

A few notes:

  • The first time you leave a comment, editors will have to approve it for posting. We do that to ensure that you’re not a machine. During the week, first time moderation will typically occur within 24 hours (we don't work weekends).
  • Personal attacks and foul language = not tolerated. Adding to the discussion = encouraged.
  • Stay on-topic. Off-topic comments will be removed from the thread.
  • Comments revealing personal information (e.g. place of residence, personal history) about bloggers or other commenters will be removed
  • Comments should contribute to the dialogue. Please support any claims with links to sources whenever possible. We love opinions. We love it even more when you back them up.
If you’d like to comment about customer service or any other issue please visit: Wal-Mart Stores Feedback or call 1-800-WAL-MART.

I'm looking forward to conversing with you!  A real and authentic conversation about your jobs and interests.

I really hope that you use media: Video, pictures, audio to tell your story, it will help bring it to life.

I use media religiously on my blog, swing by for examples.

Delighted to see that you have started a team blog and I look forward to reading about the ideas you have to share.

Can I make a couple of suggestions:

- make a link to your comment policy on your side bar so that it's available to access in weeks to come when you have many more posts

- have a clear link to feedback link and phone number either in the sidebar or header or footer so consumers can easily contact you direct if they don't want to leave a comment

- add an email subscription for people to follow you - you might event want to have this so people can just subscribe to get updates for the spcific categories they are interested in; while you have a feeds subscription, many of your consumers may still not know how to manage feeds and therefore having your articles go into their email inbox will be easier for them to keep up to date.

Best wishes and good luck.

I love shopping at WalMart and I really am happy about the upgraded items you have in your housewares and homewares departments. The new bed linens and towels are so luxe that there is no reason to go to the big department stores anymore. Thanks for the beautiful selections. Keep up the good work.
